The Dereham & District Team Ministry is comprised of eight unique, historic churches in eight different communities. Each of these parishes has its own life and activity, but all eight churches come together for various team-wide events and services.
We serve the town of Dereham with a population of about 18,000, and the six villages with a combined population of about 9,500. Our congregations, each with its own character, meet regularly for worship and other church activities. We have eight beautiful mediaeval churches, and there is a service in each parish every Sunday, except at Hoe where the service is on alternate Sundays.
Dereham retains an industrial and commercial base and with the villages of the benefice is home to a substantial number of commuters to Norwich. The resulting community is very mixed in ages and needs, with a large number of young people being balanced by those who have made central Norfolk a place for their retirement. There is also a significant Portuguese community in Dereham. Swanton Morley is the home of the Light Dragoons at Robertson Barracks.
